The Chrysler Building is one of New York City's most recognizable and famous buildings. Completed in May of 1930, the building was constructing in a time when modern steel was just beginning to make buildings taller and taller. In this vintage photograph from 1930, see how the brand new Chrysler Building looked within its relatively barren Midtown neighborhood on 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue.
Check out the specimen page on the Library of Congress Digital Archives for more info on the photograph.
