VIDEO: The Story Behind New York City's First Ever Subway Fare Hike in 1948

BRIC TV recently created this great video describing how and why the New York Subway system's fare was doubled from a nickel to a dime in 1948 after nearly 40 years.

What’s the deal with the fare hikes in NYC? BK Round Up takes us back to the very first one that took place on July 1, 1948.

Turns out it has to do with controversial city planner Robert Moses and some conservative politicians who pulled a fast one over on the Mayor.
