"Mountain Animation", Uptempo Banjo and Fiddle Music in Brooklyn's 7th Avenue Subway Station

Everybody loves these subway buskers we have been posing lately, so here is another one featuring a banjo/fiddle duo known as Mountain Animation. Vimeo uploader Rob McFeeley recently captured the band busking at Brooklyn's 7th Avenue in Park Slope.

Lightning-quick sledgehammer banjo stylings and flame-throwing violin mayhem form the backdrop of Mountain Animation. The Brooklyn-based power duo is composed of Zack Orion (vocals, banjo, foot drums) and Scott Murphy (violin, electrified violin, fiddle, back up vocals). They met in February of 2012 and recorded the album “Higgs Boson,” which is a mix of their classical and mountain music backgrounds filtered through the rock and roll format. Zack Orion’s multi-instrumental talents, strong poetic lyrics, and emotional and haunting vocals paired with Scott Murphy’s deeply-felt high energy violin riffs make up their original and inspired sound.
