Vice's Motherboard recently hit up a snow-covered park in bronx with 8 die-hard drone racers, all of whom use amazing video googles to race as if they were sitting directly in the drone itself. The racers are all part of the New York City Drone User Group and they really know their craft, tweaking mechanics to reduce weight or drag, re-coding and re-wiring circuitry to get more speed, and other mechanical/electronic hackery. One day, the group hopes to see mass-adoption of the sport, but right now, it's just 8 guys having a blast in a park in bronx.
