Immigrant Family Viewing New York City from Ellis Island (1925)

To the thousands of families who immigrated through Ellis Island, the skyline of America's greatest City was a pretty impressive sight. It stood for everything that was possible in America if you worked hard enough. It signified the American Dream, economic possibilities and a better quality of life.

We don't know the story of this family, why they came to America or what they did after this photo, but it seems impossible that they weren't inspired to do great things looking out on this stunning view of Lower Manhattan, as it appeared around 1925.
