Sitting on an empty lot in the Columbia Waterfront District of Brooklyn, The Spanish Gardener is a 10-foot sculpture of famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso mowing a patch of grass in his flip-flops. Created by local sculpture artist Elliott Arkin, the piece is a commentary on how much the artist feels the art world has changed in recent times: "If Picasso were alive today, he would have to mow lawns for a living."
Check out the impressive mixed-media sculpture in person at the corner of Degraw Street and Columbia Street until July 15th.
