The video details the decade-long journey of New York City FC to secure a permanent home stadium. Despite winning the 2021 MLS Cup, the team had been playing in various temporary venues across New York, including Yankee Stadium and Citi Field, and even played a continental match 2,800 miles away in Los Angeles due to venue restrictions. The struggle was marked by failed proposals in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and the Bronx, and an almost comical parade of other failed proposals. Finally, construction has begun on the $780 million Etihad Park, a privately financed, soccer-specific stadium in Willets Point, Queens, directly across from Citi Field. Designed by HOK and built by Turner Construction, the stadium will be fully electric, powered by rooftop solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system. The broader $3 billion redevelopment includes 2,500 affordable housing units, a public school, a hotel, and public open spaces, all served by accessible public transportation. Set to open in 2027, Etihad Park represents a major milestone for NYCFC and the local community.

After over a decade of playing at borrowed baseball stadiums like Yankee Stadium and Citi Field, New York City FC is finally getting its own dedicated home in Queens. The new stadium, called Etihad Park, is part of a larger $780 million privately financed redevelopment project in Willets Point that includes affordable housing, a public school, and other amenities. Designed by HOK, the firm behind St. Louis City SC's Energizer Park, the 25,000-seat stadium features a compact, rectangular bowl designed for an intense atmosphere, a seven-story LED entrance cube, and sustainable elements making it one of the first fully electric professional sports stadiums in the U.S. Construction is progressing rapidly, with the club expecting to open Etihad Park for the start of the 2027-28 MLS season, aligning with a major league calendar shift. This marks a significant milestone for NYCFC and the local community, promising a new era for soccer in New York City.

The new Highmark Stadium, future home of the Buffalo Bills, is designed specifically for football purists, embracing Buffalo's intense winter weather rather than seeking to avoid it. Despite a $2.1 billion price tag, much of it from taxpayer money, the stadium will not have a roof, meaning it cannot host major events like the Super Bowl. Instead, the design by Populous incorporates innovative engineering solutions, such as wind-manipulating facades to slow gusts, a hydronic snowmelt system for the canopy and stands, and heating beneath the pitch, all to ensure a comfortable yet authentic cold-weather game-day experience. Seating capacity has been reduced to 60,000, with additional standing-only sections, to create a more intimate and intimidating atmosphere. While it deviates from the trend of multi-purpose, climate-controlled stadiums, the new Highmark Stadium prioritizes the unique culture and history of the Buffalo Bills and its passionate fanbase.

This documentary, 26.2: Journey to the Finish Line of the TCS New York City Marathon, follows four New Yorkers as they train for the iconic race, each with a unique and inspiring story. The film highlights the journeys of a retired math teacher, an NYPD administrative aide, a public defender, and an elevator mechanic, who collectively have overcome a stroke, cancer, a devastating house fire, and even finishing last in a previous marathon. Produced with support from New York Road Runners, this film isn't just about athletic prowess, but about resilience, determination, and the profound personal reasons that drive participants to cross the finish line.

Priya Krishna goes behind the scenes at Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn to meet the "popcorn engineers," Miss Deb and Mahogany, two long-tenured concession employees and friends. They are responsible for making enough popcorn for over 15,000 basketball fans during a WNBA game, including for 20 stands, 4 portable stations, 30 suites, and 4 clubs. The video showcases their diligent process, from preparing 50-pound bags of kernels with special seasoning to distributing the freshly popped bags across the arena, all before tip-off. Their dedication ensures every fan, no matter where they're seated, enjoys the same quality popcorn. The women also reflect on the growing popularity of women's sports and the strong bond they've built over years of working together.

Imagine a 25,000-seat open-air stadium, which will be New York City's first venue dedicated to professional soccer. While it might not compare to the massive stadiums in Europe, it's still a significant step for the city. I mean, think about it: NYCFC, which won the MLS championship in 2021, currently plays its home games at Citi Field or Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. This team obviously deserves a place to call home. Stick around till the end coz this is something you've never seen in the world of football. It all started when the media buzzed with various headlines about the approval of a $780 million stadium. This seemed like the ideal opportunity for the New York City Football Club to finally have a home turf. But before we dive into the details, we need to understand how things came to be and what benefits this brings to the city as a whole.
