Dancers at the New York City Ballet go through about 7,000 pairs of pointe shoes each year. That's because traditional pointe shoes break down after only a few wears. All of them come from Freed of London, which has been one of the world's leading ballet-shoe manufacturers for nearly 80 years. We went behind the scenes with the New York City Ballet and Freed of London to see how pointe shoes became such a big business.

Econn Customs has designed sneakers for some of pop culture's most recognizable influencers -- from 2 Chainz to Justin Timberlake. Yet this hot brand has humble origins: All of Econn Customs' pieces are made by 20-year-old Eric Conner in the spare room of his parents' Brooklyn home. Conner has no formal training in crafting footwear, but like many popular artists of the time, his success is the by-product of today's robust remix culture. Instead of creating sneakers from scratch, he spruces up classic shoes, like Nikes, with pieces of fabric from streetwear darlings, like Supreme and Louis Vuitton.

The hottest item on a Momofuku menu lately is not the "bleeding" vegetarian burger, not the amazing birthday cake, and not the slow-cooked pork shoulder either. Lines are forming instead for a limited edition Nike shoe on the menu at Momofuku Fuku, branded with the restaurant logo, and made with collaboration from chef/owner David Chang.

Nike sneaker collabs are the hippest thing since sliced bread, so it was inevitable that Nike would link up with the hippest restaurant group to produce some spicy new streetwear.
