Well, not completely…

Occupying the entire 45,000 cubic feet of gallery space, Tender is the synthesized fragrance of US Dollar bills. Although invisible, the sculpture, in fact, fills every molecule of the space.

Bouchet worked with perfumer Marc vom Ende to bring the smell of that dirty bill in your wallet into the cavernous space. Check it out at Marlborough Chelsea until February 25th.

Walking around the City this time of year brings a peculiar scent to your nostrils. The smell is reminiscent of semen, and it's origin is from the flower of what some of our less-mature locals (read: me) vulgarly refer to as "cum trees."

More precisely, [it's] a Callery Pear, or Pyrus calleryana, a deciduous tree that’s common throughout North America. It blossoms in early spring and produces beautiful, five-petaled white flowers—that smell like semen.

The City streets are full of Callery Pear trees and they are all in bloom right now, saturating the air with the scent of what many identify as chlorine, rotting fish and semen.

The last time New York’s Parks Department conducted a tree census, from 2005 to 2006, there were 63,600 Callery Pears, making it the third-most popular species in the city, after the London Planetree and the Norway Maple.

Check out this interesting article on The Awl for more info on the trees and their declining presence in New York City.

When I first saw this I thought it must be April Fool's Day again, but this is no joke. The Central Park Conservancy has teamed up with Italian perfumer Carthusia to create The Essence of Central Park.

Created expressly for Central Park Conservancy by Carthusia, this amazing new fragrance was inspired by the spring and summer blooms in Central Park. The Essence of Central Park was handcrafted in collaboration with Conservatory Garden curator Diane Schaub to create a radiant unisex fragrance featuring notes of magnolia, winter honeysuckle, linden, and Artemisia.

Perhaps this finally signifies the complete turnaround of the Park. Had this "essence" been bottled decades earlier, it would have hints of meth and rotting flesh, with subtle notes of passed out drunks.

The 1.7 ounce bottle sells for a ridiculously high $140, though all proceeds go to the Central Park Conservancy and the preservation of the park.

Would you wear it?
