Over a Thousand People Attended NYC's March for Safe Streets Protest in Park Slope

In Park Slope last night, over 1,000 outraged New Yorkers demanded that changes be made to City street design to prioritize safety over cars. Organized by Transportation Alternatives and other local community sponsors, the protest is the neighborhood's necessary reaction to last week's horrific collision where a woman with a deep history of unsafe traffic violations ran a red light and killed two young children, 1 and 4 years old, while in a crosswalk with their mothers.

Vintage Photograph From 1938 Shows a Wall Street Protest During the Great Depression Era

Local historical website Stuff Nobody Cares About recently dug up this old vintage photograph from February 19th, 1938, showing a protest on Wall Street during the Great Depression era.

New York, NY – Members of trade and relief workers unions parading in the rain up Wall Street today in a mass demonstration against unemployment and alleged and inadequate Federal, State, and City relief allowances. The demonstration, in which some 7,000 took part chanting “we want work”, was staged under the auspices of the Trade Union Committee on Unemployment and WPA and the Workers Alliance. The marchers included members of unions affiliated with the C.I.O., the American Federation of Labor and independent unions.

Estimated 500,000 Protesters March Through NYC Streets Demanding Equal Rights For Women and Minorities

People from all over the New York City metro area turned out in full force yesterday to demand equal rights for all women and minorities. See what went down in this video from the Associated Press.

Thousands of demonstrators marched to President Donald Trump's Manhattan home on Saturday in protest, saying the new president may be from New York, but he doesn't represent the city.

The current administration has no plans to provide equal pay for women, no plans to protect the rights of minorities, immigrants, LGBTQIAPK, and actively seeks to reduce some of the rights of these groups. We as a city and a nation need to stand up for the rights of all humans, stand up for religious freedom, and stand up for those who will be affected most from the policies set forth by the current administration. May this march for the people be one of many.
