The first U.S. President George Washington has a rich history in New York City. From Fraunces Tavern to Federal Hall, there are tons of places you can go to learn about the history of GW, including the New York Public Library. In this fascinating video from our friends at Atlas Obscura, watch as the library shares Washington's original notebook containing a unique beer recipe.

What could a beer recipe tell us about the personality of George Washington, largely beloved Founding Father of the United States? A lot, as it turns out. Joined by Thomas Lannon, assistant director of Manuscripts, Archives, and Rare Books at the New York Public Library, we examine Washington’s recipe for small beer that’s been tucked away in the back of his journal from 1757. (Spoiler: The beer is in no way delicious. At all.)

[VIDEO] President John F. Kennedy's World War II Era Patrol Boat Raised from Harlem River

From the mud and muck of the Harlem River, a piece of American history has been uncovered. The MTA recently discovered the main hatchway from a World War II-era warship believed to be the remains of PT-59, a patrol boat captained by a young naval officer named John F. Kennedy. "This is the patrol boat that an American president served on for three months in combat in World War II," said William Doyle, Author of PT-109. "Not only that, but John F. Kennedy rescued at least 10 Marines under fire on this boat. It's an astonishing archaeological find."

Sink your teeth into this #ObjectofIntrigue episode, where we look at one of George Washington’s dentures and his last tooth, which his dentist kept in a locket. […] Did George Washington have wooden teeth? He did not. Instead, he had several dentures. One particular denture was designed by his dentist John Greenwood, a late 18th-century dentist in New York City. The denture was built out of hippopotamus ivory, and was inlaid with six real human teeth. The hole at the end was built to slip over Washington’s last tooth, which was then encased in a locket that the New York Academy of Medicine possesses today.

[WATCH] Brooklyn Man Stalks Malia Obama in Tribeca, Begs for Marriage Then Gets Arrested

In case you were unaware, the former first daughter Malia Obama is currently interning in Tribeca at The Weinstein Company, learning from famous film producer Harvey Weinstein. One disturbed Brooklyn man was very aware of this however, as he was arrested yesterday for stalking Malia at the office, and begging her to marry him. He was promptly detained by the Secret Service.

The U.S. Secret Service detained a lovelorn Brooklyn man for stalking and harassing Malia Obama, daughter of the former President, at the White House and in New York, sources said Wednesday.
