Check Out This One Man Band Performance in Times Square Subway Station

Check out this rendition of Ben E. King's classic Stand By Me by talented one-man-band extraordinaire Jeffrey Masin in the Times Square subway station.

Musician Jeffrey Masin has been performing for over a quarter century as a one man band. Masin amazingly is able to accompany himself on guitar, kazoo along with a full set of percussion instruments. Each drum is connected to his various limbs with a clever series of bungie cords and are activated by his own specific movements and contortions.

It's hard to tell which is more impressive: Jeffrey's ability to simultaneously play each instrument, or the drum-kazoo-percussion contraption itself.

Since yesterday at noon, actor and occasional drunkard Shia LaBeouf has been performing a live performance piece titled #ALLMYMOVIES where he is watching all of his movies back-to-back over a 3 day period.

Visitors are invited to join Shia LaBeouf in person as he watches all his movies consecutively in reverse chronological order over the next three days, 24 hours a day (admission free). At the same time, a live stream will continuously broadcast the performance above.

If you can't make it out to the theater, watch the live stream instead. Watch long enough and you may even catch an action shot of LaBeouf eating popcorn or sipping coffee.

Not much is known of this performer, but apparently he was known as the "Human Squirrel" and would climb up cables attached off of very high buildings in order to fundraise for various causes.

Subway Talents, a New Social Media Site for Subway Performers and Their Fans

It's happened to all of us. Waiting for a train we hear a sliver of an amazing song from a performer, but the train is coming and there is no time to investigate. It's how I first heard the incredibly talented Gabriel Mayers at an F stop. Now, a new website seeks to help you reconnect with the musicians in situations like these, and more.

Subway Talents is a nonprofit organization based in New York with a mission to build an online platform for subway performers to showcase their skills and help everyday people explore the underground culture worldwide.

The site is live now, but the team behind Subway Talents is currently seeking $10,000 in crowdfunding assistance through an Indiegogo campaign to keep up with the surge of popularity in the site recently.

We need funds to grow our video team, because right now it's only one of the co-founders that's handling all the video related aspect of the business. We are backed up with videos that need to be edit, a lot of new and old performers that need to be recorded, a lot of shows to cover, and so much more. We also need money to upgrade our video equipment so we can capture great high quality content to provide to both, the performers and the audience.

Perks for donors range from a thank you email to a hand-painted sidewalk portrait.
