Improv Everywhere Created a Giant Boombox in Manhattan That Unleashed a Dance Party When Plugged In

For a recent stunt aptly titled The Giant Boombox, large-scale comedy group Improv Everywhere and partner Target teamed up to create a massive 10' boombox which unleashed a dance party on unsuspecting passersby. They only needed to notice the over-sized red plug, over-sized red outlet, and put two-and-two together. Check it out!

For our latest mission, we placed a 10-foot tall boombox on Pier 17 in Manhattan and waited for unsuspecting people to plug it in. Real New Yorkers worked together to carry the 160-foot long cord across the pier to an oversized outlet. Once the boombox was plugged in, everyone was surprised by a massive holiday dance party with 100 acrobatic dancers, thousands of Christmas lights placed on two historic ships, and 10 hidden snow machines.

Brooklyn filmmaker/actor/entertainer Meir Kalmanson has done quite a few feel-good public stunts in the City, including dancing like crazy behind unsuspecting strangers, the subway dance party and high-fiving taxi hailing strangers.

In this recent video, Kalmanson partnered with 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar to throw a superbowl party for a group of homeless men, providing food, warmth and a good time.

We threw a super bowl party for the homeless of New York City. The Super Bowl for most is a holiday, up there with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukah. We feast, drink and surround ourselves with family and friends. But for those with nowhere to go, it could feel even more lonesome so I teamed up with my friends at 230 Fifth: Best Heated Rooftop Bar/Club/Restaurant In NYC to throw a Super Bowl party where all were welcomed!

Here's Where You Need to Avoid to Stay Clear of Santacon This Weekend

This Saturday, December 10th, thousands of Santas, Mrs. Santas, Elfs and Reindeers from the depths of New Jersey and Long Island will spewing holiday cheer alongside drunken revelry, puke and piss all over our City.

Though the full Santacon bar list has yet to be announced, here's a few of the main spots that they have released, giving you a clear picture of which parts of the City to avoid if you can. Basically, you will want to avoid the neighborhoods of NoMad, Flatiron, Gramercy, Union Square, and the East Village. Any Santa's with all-day drinking endurance might make it down to the LES, though that seems improbable as most end up like this by 5pm.

Dance to Change the One World Trade Center's Lights With Bill Nye at the NPS's 100th Birthday Celebration at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Join Bill Nye the Science Guy and Questlove at the National Park Service's 100th birthday celebration on August 22nd at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The star attraction will be an interactive game in which visitors can change the color of the lights on the One World Trade Center.

Beginning at about 7:45 p.m., visitors can play an interactive game called "Edison's Light Bulb" by stepping on different parts of a giant digital circuit board that controls the spire lights. Nye and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will address the audience as well.

Headphone Dance Party Along the Boardwalk at the Coney Island Subway Firework Party

Get ready for a dance party, pub crawl, flash mob, and tour all mixed into one at the Coney Island Subway Firework Party this Friday August 5th. Utilizing quiet clubbing, dancers will get to choose between two separate channels of music (Top 40's/Dance or 90's/2K/Hip-hop) as they walk along the boardwalk.

This party starts in NYC and ends at the boardwalk at Coney Island where we dance and watch the fireworks. As we walk along the boardwalk we mess around with everyone wondering what we are doing. This is a dance party, pub crawl, flash mob, and tour all mixed into one. This is one of those parties that you’ll regret not going to after seeing everyone’s Snapchat and Instagram photos.

Behind the Scenes at the POPaganda x Ron English Zumiez Couch Party in Union Square

Legendary street artist Ron English recently lent his talents to clothier Zumiez for a special line of POPaganda themed shirts and other wares. To help the launch of the line, English stopped by their flagship store in Union Square and hosted a special "Couch Party" where he painted a custom couch with his signature style.
