Located in Queens, it operated from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, serving as a dumping ground for coal ash and other industrial waste. The site was crucial in managing the city's burgeoning waste output during the industrial era. However, as environmental awareness grew and regulations tightened, the dump fell into disuse and was eventually closed. Today, it is a forgotten relic of New York City's industrial past, reclaimed by nature and largely unknown to many of its residents.

The colorful and intricately shaped fresh pastas from Brooklyn's Sfoglini Pasta Shop are like miniature works of art, and the machines responsible for them are mesmerizing to watch. At the company's production facility at 630 Flushing, batches of cavatelli, reginetti, radiators, and more rain down onto sheet pans and squeeze out of molds in brilliant, carbohydrate-filled excess.

Built in 1918, the Brooklyn Army Terminal (formerly known as the US Army Military Ocean Terminal) was the largest U.S. military supply base through World War II. It was used as an active supply base up until the 1970s when it was decommissioned. The terminal sat empty for 11 years until the City purchased it from the military with the intention of repurposing it for manufacturing and industrial use.

This vintage film from filmmakers Carl Schlesinger and David Loeb Weis documents the last day of Hot Metal Typesetting at the New York Times, and older printing technology that dates back to 1884. The New York Times used Hot Metal Typesetting up until 1978, when newer technologies allowed faster and cheaper methods of printing newspapers.

This film shows the entire newspaper production process from hot-metal typesetting to creating stereo moulds to high-speed press operation. At the end of the film, the new typesetting and photographic production process is shown in contrast to the old ways.
