Aerial Drone Footage Shows New Construction of Massive Rheingold Brewery Site in Bushwick

Spanning three full city blocks in Brooklyn, the massive construction projects at the old Rheingold Brewery Site in Bushwick is well under way, and nearly topped-out. Two independent projects totalling 1,400,000 square-feet will add hundreds of apartments to the neighborhood. This aerial video from ODA Construction shows just how massive the project is.

Core Data, a New Data Hub Organizes New York City’s Affordable Housing and Neighborhoods

CoreData.nyc is an interactive data hub from NYU's Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy for all things affordable housing in New York City.

The interactive data and mapping tool standardizes over 20 datasets from a variety of city, state, and federal sources to present over 100 indicators on New York City’s housing and neighborhoods. It includes both property-level housing subsidy information, as well as neighborhood-level information on housing markets, home affordability, land use, demographics, and neighborhood conditions.

New York City Has Reduced Veteran Homelessness by 90% In Just Five Years

Over the past five years, policies set forth by Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor de Blasio have reduced veteran homelessness by 90% in New York City, with 1,600 vets off the street in the past year alone.

On Veterans day we honor heroes like Andre Sylvain, a former Combat Engineer in the United States Army and one of the many veterans who New York City has helped find a home. In the last five years, NYC has reduced veteran homelessness by over 90% and, since last Veterans day, has placed over 1,600 homeless veterans into permanent affordable housing.

Check Out Some of These Ambitious Ideas to Help Tackle NYC’s Growing Population Problem

If you’ve been on a subway lately, you know that New York City’s infrastructure is already beyond capacity. And guess what — the population is expected to rise from about 8.2 million to 9 million by 2040.

With that in mind, Crain’s asked 12 architecture, design and real estate firms to conjure some big ideas to deal with the projected crunch.

Their responses ranged from SLCE Architects suggestion of adding multi-use buildings to underused schoolyards, to Dattner Architects proposal to convert waste-transfer stations into eco-friendly fuel producers.
