Get $1 Slices From NYC's Best Pizza Joints at 2017's Slice Out Hunger Event This October

Slice Out Hunger is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City that aims to support hunger relief initiatives by fundraising through the American pizza industry.

On Wendesday, October 4th @ 6pm, the organization will be hosting their annual NYC $1 Slice Night at St. Anthony of Padua Church in SoHo, featuring over 50 of the City's best pizzerias all offering $1 slices in one convenient location. Last year's participating pizzerias were:

Tickets Available Now for 2017 'Taste of the East Village' Food Festival and Fundraiser

The Taste of East Village food festival is an annual culinary event in the East Village's Cooper Square that give you great deals on small plates from participating restaurants, with the proceeds going directly back to the community through outreach programs.

The Taste of East Village is an outdoor culinary festival on East 7th Street, between Cooper Square and 2nd Avenue, benefiting the Cooper Square Committee’s affordable housing preservation and development work (including the soon to open Bea Arthur Residence for homeless LGBT youth), our environmental greening work, social services, and senior programming. We feature dishes from more than 15 of the East Village’s best restaurants and eateries (see the list below). Come celebrate our amazing East Village and Lower East Side community!

This year's festival is on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 12pm to 5pm. Tickets are $25 and include 4 small food plates from any of the vendors. Check out the event page for more info.

Students Helping Honduras Fundraiser in UWS Seeks to Build a School in Just One Night

Students Helping Honduras (SHH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to end extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment. Specifically, SHH helps builds schools in Honduran towns and villages where they are sorely needed.

Honduran children often skip school because the closest one is miles away, and the roads between are not easy to travel and dangerous, leading to kidnappings, rapes or worse. When there are schools in a village, it usually takes place in a repurposed store or market, and basic needs such as bathrooms and meals are not provided.

100% of the funds raised for SHH goes to the materials and transportation costs to build a small 3-room school, complete with bathroom and small kitchen. The cost of the construction materials is just $25k, and with the labor provided by student volunteers and locals, raising enough money to build a complete school in one evening is very possible… but only with your help.

The 2nd Annual Brick-By-Brick Fundraiser is taking place at Sesame Workshop on the Upper West Side this Wednesday, November 2nd @ 7pm, and they aim to hit this $25k goal. Your $75 contribution at the door goes directly to SHH, and includes access to an open bar with hors d’oeuvres served all night. There will be a silent auction, prizes, games and more, so please come by and help us make a difference for hundreds of Honduran children desperately in need.

Last year, we raised over $15,000 and were able to finish the construction at a school in El Por Venir village. This year, the event will build an elementary school in Baudilio Pineda, which will benefit over 600+ students.

Not much is known of this performer, but apparently he was known as the "Human Squirrel" and would climb up cables attached off of very high buildings in order to fundraise for various causes.

Third Annual "Run to Remember" 9/11 Memorial 5k is April 26th, 2015

The 3rd annual Run to Remember 9/11 Memorial 5k Run / Walk is taking place this year on Friday, April 24th, 2015 from 11am till 8pm. Registration for adults is $50 and includes entry to the race, a commemorative t-shirt and bag.

The route will start at Pier 26 then head north until Houston St before reversing along the hudson until the finish at 1WTC.

If you use the promo code NYCGO you can get 10% off the registration price. All proceeds of the fundraiser will go to the operating costs of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
