Now in its 17th year, the Coney Island Film Festival is back this September 8th through 10th with dozens of screenings in all types of categories, from animated to experimental to adults-only.

The Coney Island Film Festival screens a truly eclectic range of films from the U.S. and all over the world and much to the delight of our audience features a number of "made in Coney Island" productions each year. In 2017 the Coney Island Film Festival is celebrating its 17th anniversary. The festival's ties to carny culture are undeniable. Our screening venues are the legendary Sideshows by the Seashore theater, home to America's last authentic 10-in-1 circus sideshow and the Coney Island Museum. Our infamous opening night celebrations feature live performances by sideshow & burlesque stars.

Now in its twentieth year, the Brooklyn Film Festival is coming back this June 2nd through 11th at venues in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bushwick and Dumbo. This years festival will include over 122 films created in Brooklyn. To help promote the festival, director Jason Jeffrey helped create this funny ad featuring an "unexpected pregnancy."

An Indie Film Festival As Inclusive and Eclectic As New York City Is Coming To Town

The 6th annual Winter Film Awards will be returning on February 23rd to Cinema Village in Union Square. This indie film festival strives to showcase talent from all walks of life, including foreign films, documentaries, music videos and narratives. At times, award shows can leave some people out, but the Winter Film Awards show radiates inclusiveness.

Like many of the great film Festivals across the country and the world, WFA seeks to bring our audience compelling and unique content that inspires the viewers and honors the filmmakers. There are hundreds of film festivals in New York City; what makes us different is our intense focus on the variety of our films and helping new filmmakers reach what may be their first real audience.

This year, filmmakers will be coming from 30 countries worldwide to present their works of art in film. The festival runs until March 4th and will be filled to the brim with exciting events taking place. Head over to the festival site for all the details.

Calling All Dog Lovers: The 2nd Annual Dog Film Festival is Returning to NYC This Weekend

Get your tissue boxes ready. The second annual Dog Film Festival is returning to New York City this Saturday, October 15th, dedicated entirely to the indescribable relationship between humans and their dogs (and some pups in super cute costumes).

The family-friendly festival, held at Symphony Space on the Upper West Side, will be comprised of over thirty original films following the different themes of adventure, rescue, redemption, and even Britain. Lasting anywhere from a few minutes to an hour and a half, these joyful films are sure to deepen your understanding of dogs everywhere, and perhaps give you a new appreciation for your own.

As an added bonus, half of all ticket sales will go directly to the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals, leaving dog lovers with every reason to attend.

The Margaret Mead Film Festival is an annual event which "celebrates the groundbreaking spirit of legendary Museum anthropologist Margaret Mead."

With the theme “Re:Frame,” the 2016 Margaret Mead Film Festival invites viewers to probe their own perspectives and to celebrate stories and art forms that offer us opportunities to see the world anew. As always, the Mead will feature intimate conversations with filmmakers and film subjects, as well as the presentation of the annual Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award.

The 2016 film festival takes place this October 13th through 16th, with tickets starting at $12.

We serve as an artistic resource for emerging artists, particularly in underserved communities of New York City. Our goal is to be a touchstone for emerging artists and to promote art particularly from The Bronx and the outer boroughs.

The film festival is taking place in Brooklyn (obvs) from May 13th - 17th with ticket prices starting at $25.

The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is the only independent, international festival for, by and about Brooklyn indie film — a local scene with global influence. Founded in 2011 by working artists, we screen films from all over the world whose creators are connected to Brooklyn’s diverse independent film community.

We focus on Brooklyn‐born, Brooklyn-based and Brooklyn-centric films and filmmakers.

We embrace every neighborhood and community in the borough. And beyond.

We work to keep submission and ticket prices reasonable to make participation in our festival possible for all.

We guarantee that every film submitted to us will be viewed by our Film Screening Panel, up until midnight on the final day of submissions.

The 4th Annual Winter Film Awards Indie Film Festival is screening some of the season's best indie films at the Blue Diamond Theater in Midtown from February 26th to 28th. Over 75 selections from around the world will be screened.

[...] a diverse mixture of 6 documentaries, 32 shorts, 6 narrative features, 9 animations, 10 music videos and 6 horror films, including 15 student films, 25 female directors and representation from 27 countries.
