A few years ago, the American Museum of Natural History added a massive fossil to its prehistoric collection: a 122-foot long Titanosaur.

Watch step-by-step as experts create the cast of The Titanosaur, the new dinosaur at the American Museum of Natural History. From the excavation of giant, fossilized bones in the Patagonia desert, to 3D scanning the fossils and mounting fiberglass replicas of the bones, see how a team of paleontologists and preparators brought this amazing animal to the Museum.

Check out the museum's exhibit page to learn more about this incredible fossil.

Join Stephanie Herdrich, Associate Curator of American Painting and Sculpture, and Sylvia Yount, Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge—both of the American Wing—for a virtual tour of "Winslow Homer: Crosscurrents." This ambitious survey reconsiders Homer’s work through the lens of conflict, a theme that crosses his prolific career. A persistent fascination with struggle permeates his art—from emblematic images of the Civil War and Reconstruction that examine the effects of the conflict on the landscape, soldiers, and formerly enslaved to dramatic scenes of rescue and hunting as well as monumental seascapes and dazzling tropical works painted throughout the Atlantic world. The centerpiece of the exhibition is Homer’s iconic "The Gulf Stream" (The Met), a painting that reveals his lifelong engagement with charged subjects of race and the environment. Featuring 88 oils and watercolors, "Crosscurrents" represents the largest critical overview of Homer’s art and life in more than a quarter of a century.

Puppets of New York explores the extraordinary, surprising, and diverse history of New York City’s quirkiest residents. Puppets traveled with migrant communities from across the globe as they made their way to the city. Like other New Yorkers, they both enriched the metropolis and were transformed by it, as they encountered the heady mix of other puppetry traditions, practices, and languages that also made New York City home. From Punch and Judy to Oscar the Grouch; from Lamb Chop to The Lion King; from Lunar New Year to the Thanksgiving Day parade, the marionettes, shadow figures, and rod and hand puppets of New York have regaled our stages, studios, and streets. They have been broadcast all across the globe, and over time have reshaped the puppetry traditions of many cultures.

'Puppets of New York' is on display through April 3rd, 2022. Check out the exhibition page to learn more.

Roz Chast is a well-known cartoonist for The New Yorker, and now has a special exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York that celebrates her illustrative work.

In this video from MCNY, watch in time lapse as Chast paints her mural "Subway Sofa" on the third floor of the museum to mark her exhibit's entrance.

During the first weekend of April, artist Roz Chast took up residence on the City Museum's 3rd floor to create "Subway Sofa," a painting that welcomes visitors to our #‎RozChast exhibition, on view through October 9, 2016. Featuring the cramped comfort of NYC apartments and the horrors of subway commuting, it's the perfect foray into a show that highlights Chast's uncanny ability to capture the absurdities of city life in hilarious cartoons.

The exhibit is free for any ticketed visitor at the museum.
