END OF THE LINE is a feature-length documentary about the New York City subway crisis and the dire state of America's transit infrastructure. Grounded in human struggles, this film tracks a trio of New York community leaders who, when faced with transportation disaster, rise to the challenge and illuminate instructive paths forward.

As of this moment over 800 people contributed to the campaign and it all started because the owner, Dorian Thornley, said flippantly in a local blog that if someone wanted to raise 50K he would take it and keep the store open. Well, the wish was granted.

See how the neighborhood saved this gem of bookstore from disappearing.

We have Kickstarter to thank for getting some really cool projects off the ground: the Exploding Kittens game, the "Veronica Mars" movie, hundreds of really cool tech gadgets, and yes, even a campaign that started with a potato salad and ended with a $55,000 party. We're big fans of Kickstarter projects at Apartment Therapy, so we were excited to get the chance to tour the company's headquarters in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Located in the Annadale neighborhood on the South Shore of Staten Island, the Olmsted-Beil House was once the home of famed Central Park co-designer Frederick Law Olmsted. Currently is a state of disrepair, the New York Landmarks Conservancy recently launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help save it.

Alerted to its severely neglected condition last summer, the New York Landmarks Conservancy led a national campaign to sound the alarm about this endangered landmark and paid for an updated Conditions Assessment Report, which showed that it would cost $153,400 to stabilize the house.

When local New York City blog Gothamist was shut down last year after billionaire owner Joe Ricketts disagreed with their journalists' unionization vote, the City lost a great resource for local news. However, in the time since, local public radio station WNYC and other partners have purchased Gothamist back from Ricketts, and are now gearing up for a relaunch! However, like all things publicly funded, there is not quite enough money to keep things moving as quickly as everybody would like, so the Gothamist has setup a crowdfunding campaign to help them "Bring Back Gothamist" faster.

All funds raised with this Kickstarter will go to funding Gothamist. The first $100,000 will help revive the website and bring back our popular newsletter. It will also enable us to preserve the Gothamist and DNAinfo archives. But this is just the beginning. The more we raise, the better we can serve you.

Since WNYC is a non-profit organization, all donations to the campaign are tax deductible. We at Viewing NYC have shared many of Gothamist articles and videos over the years, thus we have contributed to the campaign, and we hope you will too.

CityWood is an awesome new map of New York City and other cities that is created with several layers of overlapping laser-cut wood panels.

The CityWood is created from city data that is transferred into the computer. Features such as roads and rivers are converted into layers to create depth of the design. We use 3/32 inch (3mm) sheets of high-quality plywood, all of which are hand finished. Each layer is laser cut with a one hundredth of a millimeter precision and polished with sand paper to provide smooth clean surface. Wooden surface is finished with varnish to add color and material durability. Each map is unique due to the individual grain of the wood. All maps are assembled by hand with great attention to the creating process.

The CityWood map is being crowdfunded through an already-backed Kickstarter campaign, but there are 27 days left to go so you can grab yourself one at lower-than-market prices until it's over. Prices start at $29 for a super small 5" x 7" map, up to $489 for a 36" x 36" one.

Created by Poland-based Indie Designers, the company has several successful projects already under their belt.

Founded by Anat Errell and Liat Zvi, Tamtik is an Israeli startup that is looking to bring edible maps of New York City, Tel Aviv, London and other cities to life, each made from gourmet chocolate.

Imagine for one second if you could combine two of your favorite things in the world: Supremely decadent chocolate and a a stunning urban city-scape. Well, imagine no more :) We've been working like mad over the past years to perfect our Tamtik chocolate city, it's a product of years of dedication and and we can now finally bring it to YOUR city. Yay!

The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign where they are seeking a modest $10,000 of pre-orders to get the ball rolling. With 33 days left in the campaign, Tamtik has already raised about 25% of the funding for the urban chocolate maps.

The Public Art Fund and Chinese multimedia artist Ai Weiwei have collaborated on a massive-scale exhibition featuring over three hundred outdoor sculptures in New York City. The only problem is, they need your help to get the public art project past the finish line and into the City's public spaces.

In response to the worldwide plight of migrants and refugees, divisive immigration and border control policies, and the global rise in nationalism, the exhibition, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, will be installed at 300 + sites spanning dozens of New York City neighborhoods in all five boroughs. Drawing on the artist’s personal experience being detained by the Chinese government and as well as his visits with some of the world’s most vulnerable populations at refugee camps and borders worldwide, the show will make a powerful statement about division and separation at a global, national, local, and personal level.

The Public Art Fund set up a Kickstarter campaign to raise a relatively-modest 80k that will go towards ensuring these sculptures can be displayed in New York City's public parks and spaces. In only two days, the campaign has already reached 24k and has about a month left to go. Check out the campaign page to learn more about the project, contributions, and rewards.

A new Kickstarter campaign is looking to bring the New York Skyline to life as a custom 3D-printed chess game called Skyline Chess - New York Edition. The set uses iconic New York City buildings as pieces, such as the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, the Flatiron Building, the Chrysler Building and the Guggenheim Museum.

We've chosen a range of buildings from across the city, some of which capture the essence of the early 1900's construction boom and the growth of skyscraper architecture, through to their more contemporary counterparts, along with some of the city's most recognisable silhouettes.

To make the chess set, the company behind it is seeking $12k and has already raised $6.5k with 30 days to go. Perks range from a set of playing cards to a completely customized chess set for the highest pledges. Check out the campaign page for more info.
