The crawl happens on December 26th, the first day of of Kwanzaa - and focuses on building community and facilitating economic empowerment by supporting over 30 black owned bars and restaurants.

Kwanza Crawl Will Celebrate Black-Owned Bars Through 5 Brooklyn Neighborhoods

Kwanza Crawl is a bar crawl through five Brooklyn neighborhoods that both celebrates the holiday of Kwanza and supports 16 black-owned businesses. Taking place Monday, December 26th, the crawl falls on the first day of Kwanza.

A one day event where people of the African diaspora join together to support the black owned bars in their neighborhood. Crawlers will be dressed in whatever makes them feel black and beautiful, for a day of unity, fellowship, and fun! […] It will support local, minority-owned businesses in the Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene and Park Slope neighborhoods. The crawl is focused on the social aspect of building community, and facilitates the creation of economic empowerment within our community.

Kwanza Crawl is like the grown-up version of SantaCon… respectful adults in respectful attire enjoying some adult beverages while celebrating a meaningful holiday and supporting Brooklyn's black-owned businesses. Check out the event page for info on meet up times and locations.

The scourge of SantaCon is upon us again this Saturday. Lucky for us, a full map and timeline of the participating bars and neighborhoods have been released so you know exactly where not to be.

It all kicks off at 10am in Williamsburg, then heads to the LES in the early afternoon, finishing up in Flatiron and Midtown until 7. If any Santa's are left partying after that point, you can probably find them at Bellevue.

Organized by Jeremiah Moss and his #SaveNYC campaign (previously), the Second Ave. Small Biz Crawl is an effort to bring some business back to the struggling businesses surrounding the Second Avenue Explosion site.

After a disaster like the Second Ave. explosion and fire, impacted small businesses struggle to survive. Some don’t make it. Especially the old favorites. #SaveNYC is holding a Small Biz Crawl along Second Ave. to bring customers, cash, and attention to those mom-and-pops in most need.
