Butter & Scotch is an awesome combination bakery and bar in Crown Heights on Franklin Avenue that serves up boozy shakes, craft cocktails, and delicious baked goods, all while helping to make the world a better place. For each drink ordered, the bar donates $1 to Planned Parenthood. See what they are all about in this short video from our friends at Eater.

Butter and Scotch has service with a purpose. Every time they sell a drink, they donate to Planned Parenthood. In our new series, First Person, the Eater team hears out Butter and Scotch's cause.

Check Out "Seated Ballerina", Jeff Koons' Newest Giant Inflatable Sculpture at Rockefeller Center

Artist Jeff Koons, well known for his balloon-like sculptures, recently unveiled a new inflatable sculpture in Rockefeller Center called "Seated Ballerina". On Friday there was an small ceremony where Koons, along with sponsors Kiehls, talked about the meaning of the sculpture, and how they hope to bring awareness to Missing Children's Month.

Just unveiled the Seated Ballerina at Rockefeller Center to bring awareness to May being International Missing Children's Month. My intentions are for the Seated Ballerina to communicate hope and optimism to everyone.

The sculpture will be on display in Rockefeller Center until June 2nd, 2017.

During International Women’s Day earlier this month, the popular and beloved sculpture Fearless Girl was erected facing opposite the iconic Wall Street bull statue, Charging Bull. Originally permitted for only a month, the City of New York recently voted to extend the permit all the way until next year's International Women's Day.

This NYC Subway Map Pays Homage to City's Most Accomplished Women

In a New Yorker article titled City of Women, author Rebecca Solnit asks what New York City would look like if street names and subway stations were named to honor women instead of the current male majority.

In the map “City of Women” […] we tried on what it would look like to live in such power, by paying homage to some of the great and significant women of New York City in the places where they lived, worked, competed, went to school, danced, painted, wrote, rebelled, organized, philosophized, taught, and made names for themselves.

The New York City subway map is the one map that nearly everyone in the city consults constantly; it is posted at nearly every station entry and on every platform and subway car. The station names are a network of numbers and mostly men’s names and descriptives, but the map is an informational scaffolding on which other things can be built. So on it we have built a feminist city of sorts, a map to a renamed city.

This "Fearless Girl" Statue is Standing Tall Against Wall Street's Iconic Charging Bull

In honor of International Women’s Day today, a new sculpture named "The Fearless Girl has been erected facing opposite the iconic Wall Street bull statue, Charging Bull. The strong girl is staring down the bull, standing up for women, and symbolizing women in leadership, especially in the financial sector.

We placed a new symbol of women and leadership in a place that no one can ignore.

Unlike the original bull statue, the Fearless Girl was placed there legally with a permit, and will be on display until next Wednesday, March 15th.

Celebrate the Courage of Ovarian Cancer Survivors at the 8th Annual T.E.A.L. Walk in Prospect Park

The 'Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation' also known as T.E.A.L. is holding the 8th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L. Walk and 5k Run raising money for Ovarian Cancer research and awareness.

Coming up on Saturday September 10th in Prospect Park, the walk celebrating the courage of Ovarian Cancer survivors and the strength of the families who've been touched by the disease, while spreading awareness to the public and raising money for research.

Participants of our Brooklyn T.E.A.L. Walk/Run include survivors, caregivers, families, friends and the general public who come together to raise awareness of and promote a cure for Ovarian Cancer. We celebrate those who’ve battled the disease during our survivor stage ceremony. Throughout the day, there is entertainment along with educational booths and fun activities for the whole family. Thousands of people participate in this amazing event. The 2.5 mile Walk is non competitive, but the 5K Run is timed so that winners can be announced.

Sign up for either the 2.5 mile walk or 5k run to help support this great cause before registration closes on September 2nd.

Non-Profit Organization Outfits the City's Undomeciled With Clean Donated Sneakers

It's From the Sole is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York that has a mission to refurbish donated shoes and re-distribute them to those in need.

It’s From the Sole (IFTS), founded in 2012, distributes donated new and refreshed sneakers, and new socks and outerwear to all those in need. Andre McDonnell, Founder and CEO, was moved to start It’s From the Sole, after a chance encounter with a barefoot homeless gentleman after an event he was attending in SoHo. Overwhelmed with emotion, McDonnell approached the man and offered him the pair of sneakers he was wearing at the time. Moved by the experience to do more, It’s From the Sole was born.

'It's From the Sole' Outfits the City's Undomeciled With Donated Sneakers

It's From the Sole is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York that has a mission to refurbish donated shoes and re-distribute them to those in need.

Andre McDonnell was playing basketball one day in 2012 when he saw a homeless man without shoes. Automatically, he took his new kicks off his feet and gifted them to the man. The rest is history. Founding the independent non-profit organization, “It’s From The Sole,” McDonnell estimates that he has given away over 7,000 pairs of shoes to New York City’s homeless population.
