You Can Own a Piece of Rock and Roll History From This Times Square Auction

Love the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin? Now is your chance to own some one-of-a-kind memorabilia at an auction this Friday, November 9th, at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. This report from CBS New York has more.

Highlights from the collection on offer include Taupin’s original, annotated lyrics to some of his classic creations (various estimates) including "Candle in The Wind 1997" tribute to Princess Diana, typed sheets with alternate last verse lines handwritten; original lyrics to "I'm Still Standing" from 1983’s Too Low For Zero; original lyrics to Starship’s 1985 hit "We Built This City,"; handwritten lyrics to Heart’s "These Dreams," "Nikita," "Mendocino County Line"; "A Love that Will Never Grow Old" Taupin’s Golden Globe winning composition from the film Brokeback Mountain and from the album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy "Gotta Get a Meal Ticket," "Better Off Dead," "Tower of Babel" and from Tumbleweed Connection, original handwritten lyrics to "Ballad of a Well–Known Gun," along with handwritten lyrics to the John Lennon tribute "Empty Garden" and Taupin’s original notes for "Philadelphia Freedom", written by Taupin and John for tennis star Billie Jean King. The auction will also feature platinum and gold record awards, clothing, photographs, jewelry, western ephemera, music memorabilia, decorative arts and more. A highlight of the event will be Taupin’s leather desk chair in which he wrote many of his hits over the last several decades.

Robin Williams' Collection of Art, Memorabilia to be Auctioned Today in New York City

Hundreds of items worth millions of dollars that belonged to the late Robin Williams and his family are hitting the auction block Thursday.

The actor and comedian was also a collector who had a child's love of toys and props, and his prized possessions included contemporary sculptures, paintings from all over the world, furniture, decorative art and movie memorabilia.

Sotheby's is auctioning off more than 300 items worth about $3 million that belonged to Williams and his second wife, Marsha Williams.

Leonardo da Vinci's Last Painting Sold in New York City Auction for Over $450,000,000

The Salvator Mundi is the last painting known to be created by Leonardo da Vinci before he died. After remaining undiscovered for centuries, it was restored and unveiled in 2011, where it was promptly acquired by a rich private collector. Fast forward to yesterday, and the painting was auctioned off at Christie's here in New York for a record-setting $450.3 million in an exhilarating fashion.

The Fire Department of New York is auctioning off this old out-of-commission boat, complete with water cannons and tons of fire equipment, to the highest bidder. But you should probably read the fine print first:

This boat was taken out of service approximately 5 years ago and was in running condition at that time. Items are being sold in an "AS IS" and "WHERE IS" condition. Inspection is recommended. You are expected to load your own item(s). Be prepared to load your item(s) from a dock. If you cannot carry or lift, you will need to bring someone with you. We cannot ship item(s). Bidders may contact a local shipping company to pick up package and ship their item(s).

The price of the boat is currently at just over $3,000. At that price, you could buy the boat for scrap metal and still make a hefty profit, though you could also renovate and own the coolest house boat in town. Your call.

How Much Would You Pay For a Set of Original World Trade Center Keys?

A new listing has appeared on auction giant eBay for a set of keys to the original World Trade Center's tower number 2. According to the seller, his deceased father collected the NYC memorabilia.

My father collected New York City Skyscraper items. Since his passing I am offering these from his collection. Two Items come with this sale....see photos. 1) Key with RAISED LETTERS...this mean the key was cast in brass...not stamped in the locksmith dept. of the Twin Towers. Back of key has key code. 2) Visitor Pass, that my farther saved from his visit to the Raymond James office at the World Trade Center, protected in plastic.

The current price of the auction is $489.
