Manhattan's Union Square is home to a large set of 15 LED digits in constant motion. Tourists and locals alike pass by in wonderment, trying to decipher the meaning behind the art installation. Is it counting how many people are in Union Square? The national debt? How much Hamilton tickets currently cost?!?

The mysterious digits actually form a functional clock that was created by artists Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel. The clock is called "The Passage" and is one third of a public art installation called Metronome. It has been in Union Square since 1999. Watch our video above to see how to decipher the time out of the clock.

New York City is covered in art from its world-renowned museums to its famous murals and street art. The City's subway stations are no exception. Over 280 art installations exist inside subway stations around the five boroughs, an art experience you can have for the low price of a single Metro Card swipe.

In the subway, you will see everything from a sculpture of an alligator in a suit, to mosaics drawn by school children, and even a mural signed by Roy Lichtenstein. So next time while you're impatiently waiting for your train to arrive, take a look around and there's a good chance you'll find a thought-provoking piece of art.

Here are some of our favorite installations around Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Check out this Subway Art Guide to find more information about the specific pieces, or to see if there is an installation near your stop.

Located in Greenwich Village just south of Washington Square Park lies The Uncommons, Manhattan's only gaming cafe. The Uncommons takes the age-old idea of playing board games with friends and places it in a welcoming coffee shop environment.

Visitors can enjoy a coffee or beer while sinking friend's battleships or racking up "Get Out of Jail Free" cards. If Battleship or Monopoly aren't your thing, the cafe offers 1,100 other games you can play for as long as you wish for a one time fee of $5.

Boasting the largest publicly accessible board game collection on the East Coast, The Uncommons can take you back to your childhood days. You know, those days when you had 1,100 games to choose from.

The highly anticipated park at the World Trade Center is now open to the public. Opened just yesterday, the tiny Liberty Park is one acre in size and High Line-esque as it sits 25 feet above Liberty Street.

From that height, park-goers can catch a new view of the World Trade Center, overlook upon the 9/11 Memorial and plaza, admire the gardens planted throughout the park, or even take a nap on one of the many long benches. The new elevated park is sure to be a hotspot for locals and tourists alike.
